This couple was equally nice as they were cute. Kim looked like she was right out of a J. Crew catalog and Brian looked just like John Mayer. Kim was also a self proclaimed Laura Mercier junky (see below). They were such a pleasure to work with. They had a beautiful daytime ceremony at La Villa Antonio. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
This is what makes my job so great. Here is a note from one of my recent brides, Linda (3/10/2007). When I receive such heartfelt sentiments from clients it really makes me so happy. I hear all the time from my clients that photography is the most important thing to them (of course I could not agree more), and to live up to and exceed their expectations just thrills me to bits. It reminds me that I am not just operating a business that I love, but giving back a gift that will be cherished for the rest of their lives.
"Amelia,
Thank you so much for all of your hard work. I can’t wait to see how wonderful our wedding album will turn out with your expertise! Let us know what the next step is to getting that process started. You are the best!
Sincerely,
I am so excited for my husband who just found out yesterday that he was accepted into the Master's of Literature program at Texas State University. The program is a perfect for him since he can continue to go on for a PhD if he wishes to.
I am so proud of you Chris. Not only because of this, but because of all that you do for others (Chris is an Elementary school teacher at CC Mason). Now my dear, since this will be your 3rd degree, let's try and make sure we actually use this one! (just kidding).

This is what makes having kids so much fun, you get to play like you were 5 all over again. These hugely wonderful bubble wands were given to Elliot for his 2nd birthday by our friends Nicki and Ryan. They are one of the best gifts Elliot has ever gotten. Here's Elliot and his buds (and me) playing in the backyard.

I spent this past week attending the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographer's International) conference and the DWF (Digital Wedding Forum) conference in Las Vegas. I ran into some old friends, as well as met some great new people. I try to attend at least a one big conference a year because it's such a great way to see all the newest products (albums, gear, computer software etc) and the seminars are so inspiring. I shared a room with my friend, Marianne. She is a fantastic wedding photographer from Boulder (she also won this little bike race years ago called the Tour de France...no joke). We stayed at a fantastic hotel with awesome amenities, so it felt like a mini vacation as well as getting lots of great ideas for my work.
I came back to Austin totally jazzed about this coming wedding season. It's going to be so busy, but very exctiting.

I wanted to send out a special kudos to Wendee of Lucies Events. Wendee is one of the best coordinators I've had the pleasure of working with. She is teaching a wedding coordinator course at Texas State University this spring and asked me to speak to her class about wedding photography. Her students are really talented and I and I am sure will all turn out to be fantastic coordinators themselves.

Linda and Mark were both just too nice. They really are the perfect example of why I love my job: the awesome people I get to work with. Linda's father had passed away when she was younger and she did one of the most meaningful things I've ever seen a bride do. She attached a photo of her and her father when she was a child on her bouquet. I almost broke into tears taking a photo of this. I just had to include a photo of her flower girl...too adorable. They got married at one of my favorite locations, Old Glory Ranch. If I had to get married again (to the same man of course!), this would be the place I would choose.
